Tropical Paradise Mystery Starts January 1, 2014

Yes, I know that Christmas isn’t here yet, but what do you plan to do after Christmas and New Year Day is over and the dreary, foggy, snowy, rainy days arrive? Are you planning on cleaning and reorganizing your stash? Are you planning to finish all the leftover UFOs from 2013? Or are you planning to travel to someplace warm and forget the weather and enjoy yourself?

But I cannot afford to go anywhere, especially after the holidays and all the bills roll in, you are probably thinking. Well, that’s where our imagination comes in. Welcome to a new mystery that will start on New Years Day and will continue every Saturday until the end of April.

Imagine being in a nice tropical beach surrounded by glorious bright jewel tone colors. Think of beautiful sparkling blue lagoon with parrots of reds, greens and yellows, and of sparkling diamonds in shades of purple. These are the clues to the colors you will need to start on our journey to the south seas. Think of warm inviting, sparkling jewel tones!

In order to go on this tropical paradise trip, you will need to pack up your scraps of 2.5 inch strips in jewel tones, and black for the background. These jewels will be sparkling against the background, dazzling and bright. Now grab your Pina Coladas, umbrellas, beach bag, chair and towels and get ready to start! But not until January 1. The cutting instructions will be listed on December 28th. Further directions will be posted on my blog with photos to help along the way at

Tell your friends about the mystery and if they join Scrappy Quilters, I will send you a FQ from my stash.

About cozyquilts

Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Donna. My hubby is retired and I am still working from home. I have twin daughters and am blessed with 4 grandchildren. We are owned by 4 cats that love to supervise and are very nosy. I have been quilting since 1996. In addition to making quilts for my family and friends, I also make charity quilts for Marjoree Mason Center and Valley Children's Hospital. Marjoree Mason Center is a local organization here that helps and supports battered and abused women and children get out of abusive relationships. Every Christmas I make several baby quilts for the women, along with a small stuffed animal. Valley Children's Hospital is a new venture for me that just started this year. Every month or so I drop off a couple of quilts along with a small toy, for the children. I use a lot of bright, fun fabrics to help cheer them up. I do special order quilts but please be advised in advance as I work full-time in addition to quilting, I only do a few during the year. Also, it may take up to 6 months to a year to completely finish a quilt as my sewing time is limited. I only do applique or patchwork and will incorporate machine embroidery into my patterns, when requested. Thank you for visiting and I hope to see you and friends again soon.
