Oh, My Stars, The Final Four Blocks, MEMORY, Part 1

Hello!

WOW!  Can you believe it?  We are finally at the last block in our mystery quilt, Oh, My Stars!  This block is called Memory and will truly test your memory as this is a challenging block to make, sew you want to make sure that you have your triangles in the right spots.   Not just once but 4 times as you will need 4 blocks.

I was able to find the pattern at http://www.quilterscache.com/M/MemoryABlock.html.  This is a 12 inch block from their site sew make sure that you draft it down to 6.5 inches.  It is also available at EQ and Block Base with directions set at 6.5 inches.  As it available there, I will be posting the directions once I do the block myself to make sure that they are correct and posting the pictures later on.

For now, here are the colors:  You will need 3 colors, light, medium and dark.

The second part will be coming later today.

MEMORY PART 2:

CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS:

From the light, you will need to cut the following:

  1.  One 2.5 inch square.
  2. Four 2 7/8 inch squares cut into half diagonally to give 8 triangles.

From the dark, you will need to cut the following:

  1. Four 1.5 inch squares.
  2. Eight 1 7/8 inch squares cut into half diagonally to give 16 triangles.
  3. One 3 ¼ inch square cut into quarters to give 4 triangles.

From the medium, you will need to cut the following:

  1. Four 1.5 inch squares.
  2. Four 1 7/8 inch squares cut in half to give 8 triangles.
  3. One 3 ¼ inch square cut into quarters to give 4 triangles.

SEWING INSTRUCTIONS:

Using your light 2.5 inch square as the center for the block and working out from the center, you can then layout the block from there.  Your smaller light 1.5 inch squares will be used as the outside corners.  You will be using a combination of flying geese and half-square triangles to form the block.  Just be careful in the layout.  I strongly prefer using quilters.cache pattern for more detailed instructions.

Thank you for playing along!  I will be posting the remainder of my blocks and their construction later  this month and also a layout of the quilt!

About cozyquilts

Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Donna. My hubby is retired and I am still working from home. I have twin daughters and am blessed with 4 grandchildren. We are owned by 4 cats that love to supervise and are very nosy. I have been quilting since 1996. In addition to making quilts for my family and friends, I also make charity quilts for Marjoree Mason Center and Valley Children's Hospital. Marjoree Mason Center is a local organization here that helps and supports battered and abused women and children get out of abusive relationships. Every Christmas I make several baby quilts for the women, along with a small stuffed animal. Valley Children's Hospital is a new venture for me that just started this year. Every month or so I drop off a couple of quilts along with a small toy, for the children. I use a lot of bright, fun fabrics to help cheer them up. I do special order quilts but please be advised in advance as I work full-time in addition to quilting, I only do a few during the year. Also, it may take up to 6 months to a year to completely finish a quilt as my sewing time is limited. I only do applique or patchwork and will incorporate machine embroidery into my patterns, when requested. Thank you for visiting and I hope to see you and friends again soon.
