Welcome back! This is our 6th block in the series of Oh, My Stars! This is called Card Trick. It looks complicated but by using half square triangles and Four X block, it goes together fairly easily. The block measures 6.5 inches square. I checked at Quilters Cache and their version of Card Trick is a lot different from my pattern and also measures 12 inches squared.
Here are the my 10 inch squares of fabric that I chose from my stash. You will need 5 colors, 2 light, 2 dark and a contrast to bring them together.
From color A: You will need two 2 7/8 inch squares cut in half to give 4 triangles.
From color B: You will need two 2 7/8 inch squares cut in half to give 4 triangles.
From color C: You will need two 2 7/8 inch squares cut in half to give 4 triangles.
From color D: You will need one 3 1/4 inch squares cut into quarters for 4 triangles. You will need only 2 of them.
From color E: You will need two 3 1/4 inch squares cut into quarters diagonally to make 8 triangles. You will only need 6 of them. Don’t discard your extras as they can be used in future blocks.
Using color A & B (light and dark) make 4 half square triangles.
From color C & D make four of the 4 X blocks.
Then using color C and E make a 4 X block for the center.
