Lottery Block Swap

Hi Fellow Groupies:

I have volunteered to host a Lottery Block Swap. This swap is different every month. We decide what the “theme” will be every month, what size block, etc. and then you sign up, make a block and send it to me, with a postage stamp included to help defray the cost of postage. At the end of the month, we have a drawing and whoever wins the drawing, wins all the blocks from that month. In other words, depending on the size of the block and how many people send in blocks, you might have a quilt top ready to be sewn together, if you win. Now, I could decide the themes, block sizes, colors, etc. of each block, but I would rather you all take part in the decision making. So, first off, how many would be interested in this kind of swap? What would be your ideas on themes for each month; size of blocks; colors?

Here is what I was thinking for some theme ideas: January – snowflakes; February – hearts; March – green; April – spring colors; May – flowers; June – summer colors; July – patriotic; August – beachy; September – fall; October – Halloween; November – Thanksgiving; and December – Holiday. I think the blocks should be 12″ to start and then we could decide on if we want to make them bigger or smaller.

So, let’s hear from you. This swap would begin in January, 2012 and continue for the whole year. Whadda ya think?

About cozyquilts

Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Donna. My hubby is retired and I am still working from home. I have twin daughters and am blessed with 4 grandchildren. We are owned by 4 cats that love to supervise and are very nosy. I have been quilting since 1996. In addition to making quilts for my family and friends, I also make charity quilts for Marjoree Mason Center and Valley Children's Hospital. Marjoree Mason Center is a local organization here that helps and supports battered and abused women and children get out of abusive relationships. Every Christmas I make several baby quilts for the women, along with a small stuffed animal. Valley Children's Hospital is a new venture for me that just started this year. Every month or so I drop off a couple of quilts along with a small toy, for the children. I use a lot of bright, fun fabrics to help cheer them up. I do special order quilts but please be advised in advance as I work full-time in addition to quilting, I only do a few during the year. Also, it may take up to 6 months to a year to completely finish a quilt as my sewing time is limited. I only do applique or patchwork and will incorporate machine embroidery into my patterns, when requested. Thank you for visiting and I hope to see you and friends again soon.
