LBS Challenge

What is an LBs Challenge, you ask?  Well, first answer these questions honestly and see if this is for you.

1.  You have a lot of leftover binding strips in assorted colors?

2.  You have no idea what to do with it?

If you answered yes to these to questions, then it is time to put that extra fabric to work for you.  You do realize that the fabric you bought for binding strips for that special quilt cost as much as the other fabric and that the finishing touch of fabric is probably sitting on the shelf or in a drawer or in a bin, waiting to be used.  Well, gather up your pretty pieces of leftover binding strips, get it ironed out and ready to be used.  The challenge here is to use only your bits and pieces of binding fabric and make something out of it!  It’s time to be thrifty especially with the cost of fabric these days, so why not use what we have.  Be creative and show us what you can do with your leftover binding!!  It doesn’t have to be a full sized quilt.  It can be as small or large as your stash of leftover binding allows!

So, pull out that drawer, bin, clean off that shelf, and get started!  If you need some ideas, one clever quilter made a log cabin quilt out of her binding!  And yet another made pot holders, and mini quilts!   The only catch to this is that has to be made out of binding strips, and must be finished.

The challenge starts January 1, 2012 and ends on June 30, 2012.  We will vote on the winning LBS Challenge project and it will go on our front page!  Have fun and be creative!

About cozyquilts

Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Donna. My hubby is retired and I am still working from home. I have twin daughters and am blessed with 4 grandchildren. We are owned by 4 cats that love to supervise and are very nosy. I have been quilting since 1996. In addition to making quilts for my family and friends, I also make charity quilts for Marjoree Mason Center and Valley Children's Hospital. Marjoree Mason Center is a local organization here that helps and supports battered and abused women and children get out of abusive relationships. Every Christmas I make several baby quilts for the women, along with a small stuffed animal. Valley Children's Hospital is a new venture for me that just started this year. Every month or so I drop off a couple of quilts along with a small toy, for the children. I use a lot of bright, fun fabrics to help cheer them up. I do special order quilts but please be advised in advance as I work full-time in addition to quilting, I only do a few during the year. Also, it may take up to 6 months to a year to completely finish a quilt as my sewing time is limited. I only do applique or patchwork and will incorporate machine embroidery into my patterns, when requested. Thank you for visiting and I hope to see you and friends again soon.
