New Birdhouse block!
This is a very simple block. All you need are some triangles and rectangles. I’m trying to use up my leftover blocks and scraps first, so I haven’t used any yardage yet.
WHITE: You will need one 4 inch square, cut into triangles. Or if you have triangles already cut, use those instead.
You will need two 2 x 3.5 inch strips, and two 3.5 x 4.5 inch rectangles.
BROWN: I chose brown as it works for the post the birdhouse will be perched on. You will need one 1 x 4.5 inch strip.
ROOF: You will need one 6.5 inch triangle, your choice of color or print.
HOUSE: I used a leftover triangle block that measures 3.5 inches squared. Or you can piece together 2 triangles to make the square.
Here is how I put it together:
Goes together very easy and fast. When finished, it measured at 6.5 inches by 10.5 inches, so it is more of a rectangle.
I then chose some rick-a-rack and a button to finish the block. There are several ways to do the birdhouse block, you can make it a two story house with extra triangles, or make it longer or wider. Entirely up to you. I will be making 3 more birdhouses and then add the extras on later. I will post the remaining blocks tomorrow morning. Have fun!
