Hello and Welcome Back

This is the final block for the Housewarming Mystery, and then we will start on the border.  It is called the House block and will measure 9.5 inches squared.  You will need to make 8 of these blocks and they will be surrounding the Ohio Star.   I am going with scrappy dark blue prints and a cream or off white for the house.

This block is a little more complicated than it looks as it involves some paper piecing, but well worth it as it really comes together with the quilt.  I have attached the patterns below.  I will be posting this block in 2 parts, the measurements needed and the instructions.  I will post the instructions and pictures on Sunday.

These are the measurements for all 8 blocks.  You will need the following in inches unless otherwise specified:

Cut from each of two dark blue prints:

2 each of the pattern B and D

Four 1.5 x 5.5 rectangles

Four 1 1/4 x 4 rectangles

Two 2 x 3.5 rectangles

Ten 1.5 x 2.5 rectangles

Cut from blue print:

Four each from patterns B and D

Eight 1.2 x 5.5 rectangles

Eight 1 ¼ x 4 rectangles

Four 2 x 3.5 rectangles

Twenty 1.5 x 2.5 rectangles

Cut from beige or cream:

Eight each of patterns A, A reversed, and C.  Remember to reverse pattern A 8 times and cut.

Sixteen 1.5 x 5.5 rectangles

Sixteen 2 x 2.5 rectangles

Sixteen 1.5 x 2.5 rectangles

Eight 2.5 x 4.5 rectangles

Eight 2 x 4 rectangles

About cozyquilts

Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Donna. My hubby is retired and I am still working from home. I have twin daughters and am blessed with 4 grandchildren. We are owned by 4 cats that love to supervise and are very nosy. I have been quilting since 1996. In addition to making quilts for my family and friends, I also make charity quilts for Marjoree Mason Center and Valley Children's Hospital. Marjoree Mason Center is a local organization here that helps and supports battered and abused women and children get out of abusive relationships. Every Christmas I make several baby quilts for the women, along with a small stuffed animal. Valley Children's Hospital is a new venture for me that just started this year. Every month or so I drop off a couple of quilts along with a small toy, for the children. I use a lot of bright, fun fabrics to help cheer them up. I do special order quilts but please be advised in advance as I work full-time in addition to quilting, I only do a few during the year. Also, it may take up to 6 months to a year to completely finish a quilt as my sewing time is limited. I only do applique or patchwork and will incorporate machine embroidery into my patterns, when requested. Thank you for visiting and I hope to see you and friends again soon.
