Sewing Directions:

Note, I will be posting pictures to go along with the directions this weekend.

  1.  Sew together a green triangle and a beige triangle to make a square.  Repeat to make 6 total.
  2. Join a red square and a beige square (1.5 x 1.5).  Repeat to make 3 tulips subunits.
  3. Lay out 2 triangle squares and a green 2.5 square.  Sew together in pairs.  Press.  Join pairs to make a bloom unit.  The bloom units should measure 4.5 square.  Repeat to make 3 more bloom units.
  4. Sew a beige (1.5 x 2.5) and a blue rectangle (2.5 x 4.5).  Join to blue (2.5 x 5.5) rectangle to make a stem unit.
  5. Now, lay out 3 bloom units, the stem unit, one gold (1.5 square) two beige (1.5 x 4.5 rectangle) one beige (1.5 x 2.5 rectangle) and one blue (1.5 x 2.5 rectangle) in vertical rows.
  6. Sew together the pieces in each row.  Press.  Join rows to make a tulip block.  The block should measure 9.5 inches squared when finished.
  7. Repeat steps 1-6 to make 3 more blocks.

Pictures will be up tomorrow as I have to start work in a little bit.  Enjoy!

Good Morning

As promised here is a link to the pattern.  I was going to do step by step photos, but not enough time as I have an appointment this morning.  Just remember to do only 3 flowers and 1 stem piece.  The stem piece will connect with the log cabins a little later on.  The site is about.quilting.com and has a step-by-step tutorial and is the same size.  Enjoy!    http://quilting.about.com/od/blockofthemonth/ss/tulip_quilt.htm.   Have fun!

About cozyquilts

Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Donna. My hubby is retired and I am still working from home. I have twin daughters and am blessed with 4 grandchildren. We are owned by 4 cats that love to supervise and are very nosy. I have been quilting since 1996. In addition to making quilts for my family and friends, I also make charity quilts for Marjoree Mason Center and Valley Children's Hospital. Marjoree Mason Center is a local organization here that helps and supports battered and abused women and children get out of abusive relationships. Every Christmas I make several baby quilts for the women, along with a small stuffed animal. Valley Children's Hospital is a new venture for me that just started this year. Every month or so I drop off a couple of quilts along with a small toy, for the children. I use a lot of bright, fun fabrics to help cheer them up. I do special order quilts but please be advised in advance as I work full-time in addition to quilting, I only do a few during the year. Also, it may take up to 6 months to a year to completely finish a quilt as my sewing time is limited. I only do applique or patchwork and will incorporate machine embroidery into my patterns, when requested. Thank you for visiting and I hope to see you and friends again soon.
